In the echoes of memories, love once bloomed
A date etched in time, our hearts entwined and doomed
Now marked in red, a love that’s gone astray
But the pain lingers on, refusing to fade away

Your name whispers in the wind, haunting my soul
A ghost of what was, a love that took its toll
It’s all in my head, a phantom of the past
But I can’t shake the feeling, it’s holding me fast

I won’t let you see me falter, won’t give in to the ache
No calls, no apologies, just a heart that must break
I’ll drown my sorrows in bourbon, to take away my burden.
As I bid farewell to what was, and find the strength to let you go

I admit I’m flawed, far from perfect as can be
But I tried my best, to be the one you’d see
Yet you constantly remind me of my imperfections
No matter what I do, it’s met with rejections

But now I’ve found a way, a perfect way to part
To say my last hello, and heal my broken heart
I release you with love, with a hope that it’s worth it
For the new birth of my soul, I shall find that new hello.
